“Utterly-Soulless PBS”
So true.
I still hear people refer to PBS as "liberal." But this is more an outdated article of faith than a reality. Any vestige of liberal fire on PBS has been fully extinguished by corporate funding. The exact same can be said of the infuriatingly wimpy NPR.
Today, any truly progressive media organization would be devoting its entire programming to exposing the fraud that is BushCo and proposing strategies to get these maniacs out of power. Referring to the current incarnations of PBS and NPR as “liberal” is about as foolish as saying the same of CNN (which people living on other planets are still prone to do).
For truly liberal media, turn to the flawed but often excellent (e.g., Al Franken) Air America (1240 AM in Sacramento) or the indispensable Democracy Now!, created and hosted by national treasure, Amy Goodman (9:00–10:00 a.m. with a repeat broadcast at 6:00 p.m. on 95.5 FM out of Nevada City).
