Bubble Boobs

Via Atrios.

Republicans must be waking up every day thanking Jeebus for the fact that the Democrats haven't bothered to notice that everybody hates George Bush.
It’s often said that Bush lives in a bubble, isolated from the real world. This is absolutely true of the Dems as well.

Owns Malibu, Hates Jews

One of my first posts on this blog — over two years ago — was about sick motherfuck Mel Gibson, who ranks with Dick Cheney and Ted Nugent on my most-hated list. In a rational and just world, this foul pig’s latest explosion of insane hate would be a career ender, but, well, you know.

Happy BushCo Clusterfuck Friday

Take a step back and survey the domestic and foreign policy wasteland that is the BushCo presidency. When Bush was installed in the White House, you knew it was going to be really, really bad. But I defy any of you to tell me that you knew it would be THIS FUCKING BAD. Holy shit.

Adding to this surreal nightmare is a mainstream media that treats this fucking mess as fairly routine political and geopolitical turbulence. Sure, Bush is a beleaguered leader, they acknowledge, but Americans generally like their “beer buddy” president.

I am so ashamed for humanity.

Oh, and shhhhhhhhh.

Thought for the Day

Election 2008. While a growing number of Americans are fed up with Bush, a critical mass are too stupid to actually connect Bush to the Republican party. In other words, they’ll gladly vote for a “better” Republican for president (e.g., Saint McCain or Saint Rudy). Of course, the Democrats will provide a hearty assist in the achievement of this nightmare.

Think that sounds far-fetched.

Think again.

Chickenshit Armchair Warrior “Intellectual” Extraordinaire

I think it might be illegal for me to post what I think should happen to William Kristol.

Ditto for Perle, Wolfowitz, Feith, Ledeen, Gingrich (yes, he’s a card-carrying neocon) et al.

Even the lockstep irrelevant hack George Will is fed up with “General Kristol.”

Sir, Yes Sir!

Random thought for the day. BushCo has been absolutely shitting on our military for six years now, deploying our forces into unnecessary wars with insufficient equipment, cutting veterans benefits, etc., etc. Yet, a ridiculous code of command prevents the active-duty military from openly resisting the abuses heaped upon it by some sniveling AWOL frat boy and his merry band of chickenhawks (never forget Cheney’s five deferments from service in Vietnam).

WTF?

Bush Was Right

Oh, and Fried Wire, you seemed incredulous yesterday about my profoundly intense hatred for Ted Nugent?

I brought these videos back from my visit to the frontlines of the brutal video war that is taking place between Atrios and some other bloggers. You really should go see it for yourself , but on the chance that you ignore my good advice, I offer you this masterpiece.

Happy Friday

A scan of my favorite blogs yielded nothing I care to comment on. I’ve been tempted to get into the Lieberman –Lamont battle, but Atrios, Kos, and others have it covered.

Another thought that has been kicking around my noggin: Is anyone seriously pinning hope on elections 2006 and 2008? It boggles my mind that anyone still has any faith in the Democratic establishment. Just how much cowardice, cluelessness, and staggering incompetence do the Dems have to demonstrate? Take California, for example, a gigantic political / economic / electoral powerhouse — shit, it’s a god damn country. And look who’s leading the Democratic battle against Arnold: an invisible man, a stiff, a poster boy for bureaucratic blandness, a sure loser, a fucking gift to BushCo. You don’t think this disaster-in-the-making is representative of the national Democratic “strategy”? Am I missing something here? Is there a crop of progressive, charismatic Democrats poised for electoral success in 2006 and 2008 that I’m not aware of? Is there a grassroots Democratic movement, flying under the radar, that is going to rise up and reclaim the country from the corporo-theocratic juggernaut. If so, they had better get on the radar or else we’re fucked for another decade or more.

Come Again?

From Seymour Hersh’s latest:
“A senior military official told me, “Even if we knew where the Iranian enriched uranium was—and we don’t—we don’t know where world opinion would stand. The issue is whether it’s a clear and present danger. If you’re a military planner, you try to weigh options. What is the capability of the Iranian response, and the likelihood of a punitive response—like cutting off oil shipments? What would that cost us?” Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld and his senior aides “really think they can do this on the cheap, and they underestimate the capability of the adversary,” he said.”
The Pentagon is crawling with lunatics.

Sleep well.

Unmasked

Some idiot reviewed our recent gig on his web site.
Unfortunately having to play last at the end of a long night was Army of Trees. I had a strange feeling that I was seeing double all night long, come to find out... I was!

Army of Trees is a power-pop band led by Brad, and Chris Teichman. Identical twins. In this day in age, where everyone is in a band and all of them need a gimmick, this one was a no brain-er! Although I did find it funny that their drummer, Steve, looked strikingly similar to the father in the 1985 coming of age film “Teen Wolf.”

When they started playing, my first impression pretty much stuck with me throughout the show. They sound sort of like a tamed, clean cut, Nimrod-era Green Day cover band. It reminded me of an underused genre name from a few years back called “Shoe gazer.” Chalk that up to the fact that the Teichmans bear an obvious resemblance to Rivers Cuomo of Weezer.

Their strengths are easily identifiable. They're crunchy, poppy, happy, and up beat. In between a few songs the twins randomly decide to switch instruments on a handful of occasions. Although when it did happen, they would sound really hokey until they switched back.

The weaknesses sadly, are just as easy to take note of. The entire premise of the band to me seemed a little dated. I’m not a trend worshiper by any standard... but I’ve literally heard hundreds of bands like this. Army of Trees doesn’t really separate themselves from a rat race that was held seven or eight years ago. Sorry guys...
Okay, I know you’re racking your brain to recall what the father in “Teen Wolf” looked like. The actor is James Hampton. Here’s a picture of him.
